Letters: Let cow manure clear the air

Staff Writer
Palm Beach Post
The Louriston Dairy near Murdock, Minn., is working on a project to convert manure at some of its dairies into renewable gas that can be sold for low-carbon credit in states like California and Oregon.

Your article "How cow manure can help clean air" (Feb. 9) is a fine example of the ingenious technology that can evolve when carbon pricing is applied to energy production. Who would have thought a million gallons of cow poop could be a good thing?

The article outlines the Florida environmental review policy and practice as economically favorable for the development of this kind of technology, which is terrific.

We should all encourage Congress to move forward with this needed legislation.

Truth-teller punishedwhile liar is assisted

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a military hero, punished for telling the truth under oath. Roger Stone, a con artist, will be pardoned for lying under oath. The republic is being led to anarchy.

The Department of Justice has become a POTUS police force. Our congressmen are counting votes. We the people by virtue of complacency are standing alone in the swamp that someone promised to drain.

Dr. Franklin, I am sorry we lost the republic.

Romney can runas GOP redeemer

Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, pretty much announced his Republican presidential bid for 2024 when he voted on the articles of impeachment. Actually, quite astute of him.

In the next couple of years, more disturbing things will be avalanching out of the Trump administration. Romney will stand as a beacon as opposed to some of our elected officials’ behavior on the impeachment proceedings.

Rifts worseningat alarming rate

The obvious divisiveness between the president and the Speaker of the House is symptomatic of what is happening across the country. Partisanship and tribalism now grip the nation in a stranglehold that knows no boundaries.

This being a presidential election year will only exacerbate our extremism. Negative ads and countless attacks will show no civility whatsoever.

If given another four years, do any of us think the Trump Administration will make things any better?

Skin and sexy moves are nothing new to NFL

Regarding the letter complaining about the Super Bowl halftime show (“J.Low and Shakira set low standards for women,” Tuesday):

NFL cheerleaders show more skin and just as many sexy moves. Has the writer complained about that?

No matter what, women should not be shamed for what they wear or how they dance. Blaming the women is ridiculous.

'Parasite’ was badlycastas Best Picture

One of your letter writers applauded the film “Parasite” for receiving an Oscar for its demonstrating diversity. The award was undeserving primarily due to its category.

It is a foreign film, with foreign actors, writers, producers and possibly the translator for the films' subtitles. It should have been placed in a category for best foreign film, competing with “1917”, also a foreign film.

Hollywood is too much into political views, continuing to make its own rules, based on their own ideas and the pressure it receives from radical groups too much outside of the mainstream of America, embracing their intent of pursuing their social agenda du jour.

Robert Langer, Palm Beach Gardens

Editor’s note: “Parasite” did compete for Best International Feature Film, as the category is now called ‒ and won that as well as Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
